Edenhaven is fortunate to have a wonderful team of board members to assist the management and operation of the home.
We would like to take the time and introduce this dynamic and skilled team that forms the Edenhaven Board. Managing a home like Edenhaven takes careful consideration and each member brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to maintain and constantly improve all aspects for its residents and staff.
Janice Finlay
General Manager
Raised and educated in KwaZulu-Natal, Janice pursued a career in marketing, research and brand management. She worked for the Adcorp Holdings group for many years in the roles of management and operations. During the time she moved up to Johannesburg. After Adcorp she started her own Marketing and Brand Management Consulting company. In 2015/2016 she moved back down to KZN and in time found herself on the Board of Trustees at the Golden Pond Retirement Village.
With a reference from the Previous Edenhaven General Manager who was retiring, Janice was approached to take over this position. After some consideration she welcomed the challenge and relocated back up to Johannesburg to start this new adventure at Edenhaven Retirement Village.
Janice has a wonderful passion for people and finds great fulfilment in her position at the Home. Her confidence in leadership and genuine care for the residence and staff is a tangible benefit to the Home’s atmosphere. Her previous work and life experience has given her more than adequate skill to add value to the day-to-day running and the future growth of Edenhaven. She feels blessed to be able to serve and play a part in guiding Edenhaven from strength-to-strength, making it a beacon in the community.
Barry Farr
Maintenance
Barry is a full-time pastor at Cornerstone Church and has largely had the responsibility to serve its senior citizen community. Prior to his current 20 years in ministry, he was in local and international logistics of commodities for roughly 30 years.
To serve the senior citizen community within the home is a great privilege to Barry, as he wishes to honour the elderly as they rightly deserve. He treats the responsibility to oversee and manage the maintenance of the home with respect and diligence, ensuring its residence have a dignified living experience that is well maintained and comfortable on all aspects.
Evelyn Herzfeld
Finance, Vice-Chair
The task of managing financing is a great responsibility and Evelyn is happy to serve Edenhaven by fulfilling this role. Evelyn has a Higher Diploma in Financial Planner and a BCom degree and has been in the industry for 25 years.
With her experience in money matters, she offers valuable insight and guidance to ensure the resources are wisely and effectively used to benefit the home. Evelyn works together with management not just to give input to the day-to-day operations, but also to assist with future planning ensure the home stays relevant in our modern world.
Reg Joubert
Chairman, Legal
Reg Joubert is a practicing attorney of Edenvale and has also been a prosecutor, magistrate, advocate and a pastor.
He likes to serve and help people grow and is passionate about relationships and reconciliation. Reg believes that a community is judged by the way it cares for the most vulnerable of society.
Isolde Mackay
Wellness
Originally Isolde comes from Kwa-Zulu Natal, but came up to start her career in Johannesburg as an Analytical Chemist. She met her husband Don while working at Anglo American. She made the choice to be a professional mom when their first child was born.
Apart from being a mom, she felt lead into counselling and has passionately pursued those in need of care and special attention. Her kind nature and keen observation is a wonderful attribute to all she comes in contact with. The wellness of the Edenhaven residents greatly benefit from Isolde’s personal one-on-one interaction.
Allan Bosman
Insurance and Finance
Allan has been involved with Edenhaven for close to 8 years. He was a broker for over 30 years and now enjoys his retirement. Allan is passionate about management of staff and the working environment.
